🥕 It took 20 years... 🥺

You already know I’m always real with you here and talk about my life.

And I’m going to continue to do so! I spent yesterday watching my team play, and there is a business lesson here.

🥕 It took 20 years… 🥺

Some of you already know that I’m a big basketball fan. I’ve played my whole life and my team plays in the NBA, the Minnesota Timberwolves.

I’ve been watching them religiously for 28 years. Last time they had any success as a team was back in 2004.

Since then they’ve gone through LOTS AND LOTS of ups and downs, with lots of changes and adjustments. From coaching, to players, to strategy, to office staff and so on.

But they really started hitting their stride in the last 2 years and last night they beat the defending champions to move on to the semi-final.

That’s an absolutely incredible achievement knowing where they have been for the past 20 years. All the hard work and the turbulence made it all worth it.

You could see it it on their faces…

A triumph like that really reminds me of my entrepreneurial journey. I’ve had an incredible amount of ups and downs in the last 10-15 years.

Going from starting one business to the next, to handing out flyers and coupons on the street for months without a response, to getting sued, to hiring and firing 100s of employees, to losing it all, to making stupid business mistakes…

Eventually I freaking made it. And you could see it on my face too.

That’s how it is my friend. Success is not a straight line on a chart. It’s completely unpredictable.

But what can be predictable is your effort, determination and will to one day succeed. It’s not easy for ANYONE. We all have to go through fire to escape the mediocrity.

Watching my team win yesterday really inspired me. And it reminded me that at the end of the day, when you do achieve something… All that bullshit was worth it.

Random meme of the day:

Have a great week…
