🥕 Minimum wage... Maximum Impact 👀

Are your eyes burning from watching the solar eclipse yesterday?

I guess it was cloudy in most places lol

Here’s the 3 min stack for today:

  • 👀 Minimum Wage… Maximum Impact

  • 🚚 Driverless Semi Trucks

  • 🌎 Earth Is Slowing Down

Minimum Wage… Maximum Impact…

Unless you’ve been under a rock, you’ve seen the news of minimum wage raises.

We now have fast food workers making over $20/hr for basic labor. Whether they deserve it or not is a completely different discussion. And it’s just about one industry.

As always, it’s helpful to zoom out and look at the bigger picture. Prices for EVERYTHING have never been higher (and climbing at a record pace).

As a local business owner myself, I can tell you that it’s never been more expensive to run a business then now. Any extra raises in anything, including minimum wage, just keeps taking away your bottom line. Soon enough, it’s doesn’t make sense to run the business anymore.

And that is what’s been happening. Businesses are shutting down because they can’t pay employees anymore. Simply can’t afford them.

This means that employees are losing jobs and middle and lower class are getting squeezed more and more.

Never have I ever seen more complaining (rightfully) about not being able to afford ANYTHING anymore.

But how do we stop this cycle? Can we even?

Driverless Semi Trucks…

How weird would it feel to drive next to a car or a truck without any passengers or a driver? You look over and do a double take… Like whaaaa???

I think it’s safe to say everything is going in that direction and soon enough it’ll be a reality.

A company in Germany, Fernride just raised 59 million dollars from investors like Volkswagen and others to make this a reality. Their goal is to take over the trucking industry.

That’s one industry that is suffering with a shortage of drivers. It sounds like a match made in heaven.

Fernride is developing a completely autonomous way to transport good and products in trucks without drivers. Completely automated and controlled from the dispatcher’s office.

That’s quite interesting and I’m sure lot’s of industries that rely on transport will be going in a similar direction.

There will come a day when you are stuck in traffic and you look around to find no other drivers ðŸ˜†

Earth Is Slowing Down…

How about we end the newsletter with a fun fact. Today’s solar eclipse got me doing some research and guess what?

The earth’s rotation is actually slowing down!!

Did you just spit out your water in disbelief?

It’s only 1.8 seconds slower every 100 years, but that’s super interesting.

600 million years ago we only had 21 hours in a day.

So now you know that you have even more time in the day than yesterday.

What else can you get done in all that time?
