🥕7 Steps To A Successful Delegation
🥕 If you don't want to be wearing all the hats in your business then you need to learn how to delegate - here's how.
Happy Saturday my ol Wise Carrot.
I hope you’ve had a great week and ready to rest, plan and spend time with loved ones.
Don’t forget to have some fun too! (It’s good for the soul)
Let’s dive into todays short and sweet lesson about how to successfully delegate specific roles within your business.
You can’t work ON the business if you’re constantly stuck IN it, especially if you’re not reflecting.
🥕 7 Steps To A Successful Delegation
In the world of business and especially as an Entrepreneur, you can find yourself very easily doing 101 things and become overwhelmed with the amount that you need to do especially if you’re at the startup phase.
You need to be the sales guy, the coach, the marketer, the admin guy and much more… it can be a lot.
Now it’s cool that you can do all of this but the problem is, is that you’re working too much IN the business rather than ON it and you have to be able to work ON the business if you want to grow otherwise you’ll become stuck.
So what’s the solution?
Well, the solution here is to delegate specific tasks and roles that you don’t want to do yourself or just don’t know too much about and therefore outsource it.
Here are the 7 steps to successfully delegate in your business.
1. Select the task that you want to delegate (Sounds simple but you’d be shocked how many don’t do this)
2. Create a simple step by step procedure that someone could come in and replicate. (Make it so easy that a monkey could follow it) and be sure to document the process. Check off the “Who, Why, When, Where, How”.
3. When you bring that person in, hold them to deadlines and stay grounded with them otherwise things become loose and eventually dip, so keep the standards high.
4. Document expected results - This is to show the person who’s coming in that your process works and that if done correctly can see the right type of results you’re looking for.
5. Assign this specific task to a specific someone that you believe can rock your world, show up, hold to high standards and kick ass. Here’s a pro tip from me to you… you don’t always need to hire the best of the best aslong as you have a proven process that’s simply plug and play because you can hire someone who has insane drive, hunger and a passion to crush it for you and they’ll work just fine - I’m a living example of that when I first started off.
The other alternative is that you bring in an A player to help you mould the process and let them take the reigns BUT do NOT settle for B or C star players, you need the best!
6. Let your person work and don’t micromanage them. Not only is this not good for you as a business owner but also for the person you hired too as they’ll be scared to make a mistake, have reduced action, efficiency, and confidence. Instead let them crack on with the job and keep you in the loop with end of day/week reports, pipelines etc and when they do a great job, praise them well!
7. Simply step back and evaluate the results. If you need to improve, then go for it and work together during that process. Never leave things as it is as you can always improve.
I hope these 7 steps brought some value to your day.
