🥕 My exact steps if I started today... 👣

Starting a business can be very exciting. The opportunity to change your and your family’s life is super fun to think about.

But as you get into the weeds with it, you start quickly realizing that it’s not as easy and straightforward as you thought.

In this newsletter, I hope to give you an outline for clarity.

🥕 My Exact Steps If Started Today… 👣

I found my first success in 2012 with a small local business. Since then, buying and selling businesses, networking with incredible 7, 8 and 9 figure earners, mentoring others… Here’s what I would do if I were to start this journey all over again (with little to no money).

  • Figure out who has the money. Whatever niche you are going after, do your potential clients have money to spend on your program? A great rule of thumb is if your client currently makes at least 10k/month... They are more likely to spend 1k-3k+ for you to help them. If most of your ideal clients don't make that kind of money, you are in a bad niche.

  • People who make 10k/month or more think differently than those who make much less or are broke. To them time is more important than money. They are very happy to spend good money on a solution that helps them reach the next level.

  • Which makes this next question that much more important. How good is your product/service? Have you extensively studied the field you are in? Can you safely say your product/service is in the top 5% quality of the market?

  • If you have already tried selling it without success, it's either you are selling to broke people, or your ideal client doesn't believe in it.

  • The way you figure this out? Prequalify your client. Make sure they earn a good amount of money. This can be done with a simple questionnaire.

  • If they do have the money, then it's your product/service. They don't believe it's worth what you are charging for it. You need to go back to the drawing board.

How To Build A Winning Product/Service:

  • Get the basic formulation down. What are you trying to accomplish with it? How does it help? How is it delivered? How long would it take for them to be successful with it? Think from your customer's stand point and build a "customer journey" (what they can expect through the process from start to finish).

  • TEST, TEST, TEST. This may be the most important point in this entire post. The value you get from testing this (for free) on a few people is incredible. As they go through your program or use your product, the feedback will open your mind to things you never even thought about.

  • This accomplishes a few things. You get live feedback. You get to see if it ACTUALLY works. You get amazing testimonials when someone is happy. You figure out timing of the service. You figure out answers to questions you didn't think about.

Selling The Product/Service:

  • Unless you have money to burn, you shouldn't be spending money on ads. It's a different beast. It takes time to optimize and figure out what works for your specific product/service. Don't do this until you start making at least 10k/month yourself.

  • Build your tribe. Think of anyone ultra successful that you follow or like. They have a huge following don't they? It's time to think this way. There is no easy path if you are starting from zero.

  • X (Twitter), Facebook Groups, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube. Content, Content, Content. It won't happen overnight, and it didn't for your favorite influencer that you follow. But these next 12 months are going by whether you play the game or not. Wouldn't you rather be thankful a year from now that you put in the damn work?

  • If you aren't good on camera, start posting/curating (uploading) other people's content on your pages - as long as it's relevant to your ideal customer. Then sprinkle in some of your own stuff in there. Copying is the best form of flattery, so copy ideas that the big influencers in your space are doing. If you post enough, a few will hit gold and go viral. It may be your 5th post or 50th.

  • With time you will find your voice and you'll increase your content muscle. I can't count on my fingers how many times I've helped people go through this and saw amazing results after months of trying. There are no shortcuts. But it's so sweet when you finally hit it big.
