🥕 5 (more) Simple Rules of Business That'll Make You Rich!

1. You Win or You Learn.

Now you may have heard me say in this newsletter a few times that in my opinion, that life is all about perception. How we see it, is how it usually is.

Don’t be scared of failing or making mistakes as that’s a way to learn. There’s no such thing as failing unless you stop trying, so pick yourself up, dust yourself off, look at the “mistakes” and/or “failures” you’ve made and ask yourself…

“What can I learn from this?”

Once you’ve answered that question, you’ll avoid making the same “mistake” in the future. It’s a win win.

2. You Don’t Manage Time, You Manage Energy.

So often as Entrepreneurs we stress that we don’t have as much time in the day as we’d hope. We feel like some days we’re spinning our wheels, burning out and getting nowhere, almost like a hamster wheel.

Sound familiar?

So look, if you want to be a high performing Entrepreneur, then you have to let your calendar be your map for the coming days, weeks, months and even years. Personally, I use my calendar to set up events and reminders BUT each task during my day, has a specific amount of time allocated to that specific task.

So instead of trying to hold up many spinning plates each day at the same time completely trashing your energy, focus on one task at a time for ultimate efficiency and effectiveness.

Pro Tip: Create time blocks with both “reactive” and “proactive” energy cycles in play. So do your heavy lifting tasks during your “proactive” state and your less heavy tasks for “reactive”.

3. Play To Win, Don’t Play Not To Lose.

When you work, are you working to expand or are you working to protect?

Are you trying to make money or trying to save money?

When you have something to lose, you spend more time trying to protect it, but protecting something is the thing that’s going to keep you stuck and prevent you from going forwards in your life and business.

Instead of trying to save a few percent on taxes, focus on making more money. Now sure, saving money is cool, but making even more money is even cooler.

Ask yourself…

“How Can I focus on creating more value?”
“How can I help more people?”
“How can I expand?”
“How can I build cool new things?”

Expand, not retract.

4. Spend Money To Save Time, Not Time To Save Money.

This is something which “broke” people get wrong and the “rich” constantly get right.

Broke people are too focused on saving money whereas rich people are focused on saving time because they know that their time has more leverage and higher value than the money they have.

Rich people put a dollar amount of the time that they may need to exchange and when they “no” to an offer of their time due to it not being worth it, they then look at other avenues to get a higher return on their time.

They ask themselves…

“Can I do more of this thing I'm doing right now to make more money?”
“Who can I continue to become?”

It’s often people’s beliefs that hold them back from achieving their dreams.

Save more of your time, not your money.

Don’t travel 35 miles to save 10c per litre of fuel. It’s dumb.

5. 80% Done by Somebody Else Is 100% Awesome.

Have you ever said to yourself…

“My employees can’t do the job faster nor better than me?”

Maybe you haven’t said that, but I can bet your bottom dollar that you’ve heard of that phrase right?

If you catch yourself either thinking like this or even saying this out loud to yourself, then remember…

“You only scale as fast as your ability to delegate.

This means that you’re going to have to learn how to be an effective communicator and leader.

Ask yourself…

“Is this a people problem or a process problem?”

Identify what the problem is, then go and fix it.

Don’t clean your house if you can pay someone else to do it better than you.
